Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed recent comments by Elon Musk and AI Tech CEO Guillermo Rauch regarding the potential for artificial intelligence to create a game like GTA 6 in minutes. The exchange began earlier this year on social media, where Rauch suggested, 'There’s definitely a non-zero chance we get “generate your own GTA6 in a few minutes” before GTA6.' Musk agreed with this statement, responding with a simple 'Yeah.'

Key Highlights

  • Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick responded to Elon Musk's AI claims about GTA 6 development
  • Zelnick questioned whether AI could replace top roles like Musk's before impacting game development
  • Elon Musk previously criticized GTA 5's content and stated he will not play GTA 6
  • Debate continues over AI's potential to create complex games like GTA 6 quickly

Take Two CEO's Response

Speaking at the Semafor World Economy 2026 event, Zelnick responded to these claims. According to a report by IGN, he questioned the idea that AI could replace human roles in game development so easily. Zelnick stated, 'If AI were going to get rid of employment, the richest man on Earth, Elon Musk, knows a little something about AI, last time I checked. He has unlimited financial resources, and he has unlimited human resources, and he has, apparently, an unlimited number of ideas. He knows his way around AI.'

Zelnick continued, 'The man works 20 hours a day. If AI were going to take anyone’s job, wouldn’t it take his job? The richest guy on Earth, wouldn’t that be job number one for AI to take? Why is he so busy?'

Elon Musk's Comments on GTA Series

This is not the first time Elon Musk has commented on the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Musk has previously expressed his views on the games, including criticisms about their content. In December 2023, Musk posted on X, 'Tried, but didn’t like doing crime. GTA5 required shooting police officers in the opening scene. Just couldn’t do it.' This post has received 18.1 million views and generated responses from many GTA fans.

Musk has also stated that he does not plan to play GTA 6 when it launches. His remarks have often sparked discussions among gaming communities and industry observers.

Industry Context

The debate over AI’s role in game development continues as anticipation for GTA 6 grows. Rockstar Games, under Take Two, remains focused on traditional development methods. The company has not announced any plans to use AI to generate major titles like GTA 6.

The conversation highlights ongoing questions about AI’s potential impact on creative industries. While some believe AI could speed up development, industry leaders like Zelnick remain cautious about its ability to fully replace human creativity and oversight in complex projects.
