According to a WabetaInfo report, as shown in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.5.0.70 update, WhatsApp is working on expiring groups as an extra option to reduce space. You can set a specified date by which a WhatsApp group will expire thanks to the new "Expiring groups" functionality. When the expiration date approaches, you'll get a notification asking them to delete the group. This can be a fantastic workaround for the issue of WhatsApp groups over time being cluttered and unnecessary. Also, it helps users manage groups effectively and conserve storage space, especially for groups created for brief events like birthday celebrations.
According to a screenshot provided by the publication, WhatsApp will soon include a new function called "Expiring Groups" that will show up in the group information section. With this feature, you have the choice of setting an expiration that lasts one day, one week, or a custom date. You also have the ability to change your mind and remove an existing expiration. It's crucial to understand that this decision is personal and won't have an impact on the other group members. Currently the feature is under beta stage and only time will tell by when this update is going to finally hit our phones
