WhatsApp has confirmed the launch of a new subscription service called WhatsApp Plus. The company is currently testing this paid plan, which offers several exclusive features for users willing to pay a monthly fee. The subscription costs €2.49 per month in Europe, PKR 229 per month in Pakistan, and MXN 29 per month in Mexico.

Key Highlights

  • WhatsApp Plus subscription costs €2.49 in Europe, PKR 229 in Pakistan, and MXN 29 in Mexico
  • Subscribers can access premium stickers, 18 theme colors, and custom app icons
  • Pin up to 20 chats, use 10 exclusive ringtones, and apply settings in bulk to lists
  • WhatsApp Plus is currently in limited testing and focused on Android devices
  • All core WhatsApp features remain free for all users

WhatsApp Plus Features and Pricing

WhatsApp Plus provides access to premium stickers, allowing subscribers to use exclusive designs not available to free users. Subscribers can also customize their app by choosing from 18 different theme colors. Additionally, users can select a custom app icon, which will appear on their phone’s home screen and app drawer.

One of the notable upgrades is the ability to pin up to 20 chats for quick access. In comparison, non-subscribers can only pin up to 3 chats. WhatsApp Plus also includes 10 exclusive premium ringtones. These ringtones are only available to those who pay for the service.

Additional Customization and Management Tools

WhatsApp Plus introduces new management tools for chats and groups. Subscribers can create custom lists and apply settings in bulk. For example, a user can set a specific theme for all conversations in a list. When a new conversation is added to that list, the chosen theme will automatically apply to it as well.

These features aim to provide more control and personalization for users who manage multiple chats or groups. The ability to apply settings in bulk can save time and ensure consistency across conversations.

Availability and Platform Support

Currently, WhatsApp Plus is available to a limited group of users as part of a testing phase. The company plans to expand access in the future. At this stage, the subscription is focused on Android devices. Support for iOS is expected to be added later.

All core WhatsApp features, including end-to-end encryption, remain free for all users. The company has not moved any existing features behind the paywall. All additions in WhatsApp Plus are new and do not affect the standard experience for non-subscribers.
