Samsung has expanded its partnership with OpenAI, moving beyond semiconductor manufacturing to integrate advanced AI tools across its workforce. The company has signed a deal with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to all Samsung employees. This step marks a significant move in Samsung’s ongoing efforts to accelerate AI adoption internally, following its focus on AI features in its Galaxy devices and One UI operating system.
Samsung has prioritized AI development both in its products and within its organizational processes. The company has already established itself as one of OpenAI’s AI chip suppliers. Now, by offering ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its global workforce, Samsung aims to enhance productivity and innovation across departments.
ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex will be available in all Samsung branches. Employees will use these tools for a range of tasks, including software development, marketing, product design, and manufacturing. Codex, initially designed for coding, has also proven effective in tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code, as well as structuring productivity flows for teams.
OpenAI reports that Codex is now used by more than 5 million people worldwide. Since February 1 this year, Codex usage has grown by nearly 800%. This surge reflects the increasing adoption of AI tools by major companies and institutions.
Other leading organizations in South Korea have also integrated OpenAI’s technologies. LG Electronics is among the prominent adopters, and Seoul National University recently made ChatGPT Edu available to about 47,000 students and staff. These developments highlight a broader trend of AI integration in both the corporate and education sectors.
By deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex, Samsung expects to streamline both technical and non-technical workflows. The tools will assist with software development, marketing strategies, product development, and manufacturing processes. This move is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to leverage AI for competitive advantage and operational efficiency.
Samsung’s collaboration with OpenAI demonstrates the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of AI technology. As AI adoption accelerates across industries, Samsung’s internal rollout of ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex positions it to benefit from the latest advancements in artificial intelligence.
