Xiaomi has officially teased the Xiaomi 17 Max on its Chinese website, confirming a launch in China later this month. The Xiaomi 17 Max will be the sixth device in the Xiaomi 17 lineup, joining the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17 Ultra, and Leica Leitzphone. The company has shared images of the phone's design and highlighted several key upgrades.
Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and head of its mobile phone division, described the Xiaomi 17 Max as a fully upgraded version of the standard Xiaomi 17. He emphasized that it is not just a larger variant. The device is expected to feature a 6.9-inch 2K OLED LTPO flat display. The display may reach up to 3,800 nits of peak brightness, providing strong visibility in various lighting conditions.
For eye comfort, the Xiaomi 17 Max is said to include 3,840Hz PWM dimming, which helps reduce eye strain during long usage. The display will also be protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, offering enhanced durability.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, Qualcomm's latest chipset. The device is expected to pair this with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Graphics processing will be handled by the Adreno 840 GPU.
Photography is a major focus for the Xiaomi 17 Max. The rear camera system is tipped to include a 200-megapixel Samsung HP9 sensor with optical image stabilization. It will be supported by a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto lens. The front camera is expected to be a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to house an 8,000mAh battery. Charging capabilities will reportedly include 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. These features aim to offer fast and flexible charging options for users.
Other notable features likely include a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and dual stereo speakers for improved audio. The device is also said to have an IR blaster, a metal frame for premium build quality, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is positioned as a significant upgrade within Xiaomi's smartphone lineup, focusing on display quality, camera performance, and battery life.
