Oracle revoked a job offer to Tejasw Agrawal, a recent graduate, just five days before his scheduled start date. This marked the second time Oracle withdrew its offer to Agrawal, who had been preparing to begin his career with the company on August 18. Agrawal first received a pre-placement offer from Oracle, which was revoked in May 2026. In July, Oracle reissued the offer and set a joining date for August 18. Agrawal completed all joining formalities and booked flights to relocate for the job.
However, on August 13, Oracle informed Agrawal that the offer was revoked again. He shared his experience on LinkedIn, stating that the repeated uncertainty had made starting his career especially difficult. Agrawal noted that he had declined other opportunities during this period, believing the Oracle offer was final. His LinkedIn post has received over 4,000 likes and numerous responses from people offering support and advice.
Agrawal is now seeking new opportunities in software development, software engineering, and AI engineering. He previously completed a three-month internship at Oracle between May and July. Agrawal holds a BTech degree in Electrical Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology. He expressed hope for a fresh start, asking recruiters and professionals for assistance in finding a new opportunity.
The withdrawal of Agrawal’s offer highlights the challenges faced by new graduates in a shifting job market. Many graduates depend on pre-placement offers to secure their first professional role. Revocations can leave them with limited options and increased uncertainty as they begin their careers.
Agrawal’s experience comes as Oracle undertakes significant cost-cutting measures while investing heavily in AI infrastructure. A recent Business Insider report stated that Oracle is preparing for another round of job cuts. The report, citing internal documents and sources, indicated that some teams could see double-digit percentage reductions.
During its fiscal 2026 year, which ended May 31, Oracle’s workforce decreased by about 21,000 employees, or 13 percent, according to a company filing. The company now employs around 141,000 people. Oracle is spending billions of dollars to expand its AI infrastructure, including investments in data centers and advanced chips. These efforts aim to meet the rising demand for AI computing while managing operational costs.
It remains unclear whether Oracle’s cost-cutting measures directly affected Agrawal’s job offer. The company has not provided a public explanation for the withdrawal. The situation reflects the broader pressures technology firms face as they balance investment in new technologies with workforce management.
Agrawal’s case has drawn attention to the impact of corporate decisions on individual careers. As Oracle continues to adjust its workforce and invest in AI, similar stories may emerge among job seekers and employees.
