The Google Pixel 7 series also launched in India this year after years of absence. However, all eyes are on the next phone in the Pixel series. The Pixel 7a is unlikely to launch before the end of this year, but it's entirely possible that it will be revealed at the Google I/O 2023 keynote.
With that in mind, some supposed Pixel 7a features have been leaked around the web, and it looks like Google is now looking to update the hardware and aspects of the so-called affordable Pixel. Recently we have seen the Google Pixel 6A match the flagship models, Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro, in design and quality.
And with the Google Pixel 7A in 2023, we might see Google raising the stakes even higher. The report claims that the Pixel 7a will charge wirelessly and will also feature significant improvements in the camera department.
It's already been said that Google will use the new Tensor G2 chip to power its Pixel 7a, but the upgrade could also feature an all-new ceramic case, a first for the Pixel a series.
Google could also offer more than two camera units in the Pixel 7a, which would be the first non-Pixel Pro model to include a telephoto sensor. According to the report, the Pixel 7a will likely feature a novelty when it comes to wireless charging, and will only support 5W charging speeds.
With this generation of A devices, it is also likely that Google will introduce a high refresh rate display (though not with an adaptive refresh rate). All these features and updates will not be cheap, it is very likely that the Google Pixel 7A will have a higher manufacturing cost compared to the Pixel 6A. Google will probably increase the price of the device by asking the consumers to shell out more to experience the Pure Android.
Looking at Google’s track record for the launch of the A series, the Pixel 6A was released in July 2022 and the Pixel 5A in August 2021. It is likely that the tech giant will launch the Pixel 7A around that time. So, there is still a significant wait for the 7A to hit stores. However, Google's penchant for revealing all the details of its upcoming devices means we likely know everything about the Pixel 7 a month before that date. We're only a few months apart, so it's too early to give any details.
If the aforementioned improvements are introduced with the Pixel 7A, the price of the upcoming phone will be higher than the Rs 43999 asking price of the Pixel 6A. (The Google Pixel 6A is currently available for Rs 34999). It would be interesting to see if consumers will be willing to pay a higher price for the improvements.
