Huawei has introduced the fifth generation of its Watch Fit series, unveiling the Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro at a major launch event. The announcement also included the Watch Ultimate Star Diamond Edition. Both new models feature updated designs and improved specifications, targeting users seeking advanced wearable technology.
The Watch Fit 5 Pro stands out with slimmer bezels and a larger 1.92-inch AMOLED touchscreen. This model uses 2.5D sapphire glass and achieves a peak local brightness of 3,000 nits. The standard Watch Fit 5 offers a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits. Both models support Always-On Display (AOD) watch faces and include two buttons on the right side: a digital crown and a shortcut button.
Both watches have aluminium midframes, but the Pro version adds a titanium bezel for a premium look. The fifth-generation Watch Fit series introduces updated heart rate modules, featuring six LEDs and six PPG optical sensors. Both models include temperature sensors, while the Pro variant adds ECG and depth sensing capabilities.
Both watches are rated at 5 ATM, making them suitable for swimming. However, only the Watch Fit 5 Pro is certified for freediving up to 40 meters. Activity tracking covers a wide range of sports modes, including an updated cycling mode. Both versions sold in China offer dual-band GNSS positioning, NFC, and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity. These features may be available in global models as well.
The watches include an onboard microphone and speaker. Huawei has added a recorder function, allowing users to record meetings or notes directly from the watch. Battery life is rated at up to 7 days with normal usage and up to 10 days with lighter use. With AOD enabled, users can expect around 4 days of battery life. Charging is handled via a proprietary magnetic puck charger.
The Watch Fit 5 will be available in purple, green, white, black, and silver. The Watch Fit 5 Pro will come in black, white, and orange. Both models will go on open sale in China starting April 29. International availability has not yet been announced.
