​Huawei is preparing to launch two new foldable smartphones in the second half of 2026. According to recent reports, the company will introduce the Huawei Mate XT2 and the Huawei Mate X9. Both devices are expected to feature advanced hardware and design improvements.

Upcoming Foldable Devices

The Huawei Mate XT2 will refine the tri-folding structure seen in previous models. Details about its specifications remain limited, but it is expected to build on the design of the original Mate XT and XTs. The device will likely use the new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, which is anticipated to debut with the Mate 90 series. While this chipset promises improved performance, it is not expected to be manufactured on a 3nm node. Instead, it may use a process similar to SMIC’s N+3 node, which is a 6nm-class technology comparable to TSMC’s N6 node. Currently, Huawei’s top chip is the Kirin 9030, also made on the SMIC N+3 node.

The Huawei Mate X9 will be a traditional book-style foldable. It will feature a 6.5-inch cover display and a larger 8.15-inch inner display. For comparison, the previous Mate X7 model offered a 6.5-inch cover and an 8.0-inch inner display, powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset.

Key Specifications and Features

The Mate X9 will include a larger battery, with a capacity exceeding 6,000mAh. The exact battery size has not been confirmed, but it will surpass the Mate X7’s 5,600mAh battery. The new model will also upgrade its camera system. It will feature a main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and a telephoto module, and it is likely to include an ultra-wide camera as well. The Mate X7 offered a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4.0), a 50MP 3.5x periscope lens, and a 40MP 120-degree ultra-wide camera.

Pricing for the Huawei Mate X9 is expected to be around CNY 10,000, which is approximately $1,475, €1,290, or ₹140,500. The base Mate X7 with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage launched at a similar price point. There is currently no information on the pricing for the Mate XT2.

Additional Developments

Huawei may also introduce a new small wide foldable device, though details remain unclear. The company continues to focus on innovation in foldable smartphone technology, aiming to improve both hardware and user experience with each new release.
