Apple is preparing to launch a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro and updated iPad Pro models in the first half of 2027, according to a new Bloomberg report. The company aims to expand its Mac and iPad portfolio while also introducing its next-generation M7 processor. These launches could mark significant updates for both product lines.

Key Highlights

  • Apple plans to launch a redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro in the first half of 2027.
  • Four new iPad Pro models are in testing with performance upgrades and continued 11-inch and 13-inch sizes.
  • Apple is developing its next-generation M7 processor for release alongside new devices in 2027.
  • The new MacBook Pro may adopt design features from higher-end models, including possible touch-screen displays.

Redesigned Entry-Level MacBook Pro

Apple is developing a new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed K104, which could debut as early as spring 2027. This model is expected to feature a fresh design that aligns with the look of higher-end MacBook Pro models. Reports suggest Apple is working on touch-screen displays for future MacBooks, and the new design may include elements such as a pill-shaped camera cut-out at the top of the display, similar to the Dynamic Island on recent iPhones. However, it is not confirmed if the entry-level model will include this feature.

The K104 MacBook Pro would represent the first major redesign for Apple's lower-end MacBook Pro in several years, while maintaining the 14-inch display size. In addition, Apple has already completed work on another refreshed entry-level MacBook Pro, codenamed J804, which is expected to launch later in 2024. The J804 model will keep the current design and introduce the base M6 chip.

iPad Pro Updates and Performance Improvements

Apple is also testing four new iPad Pro models, which will continue to be available in 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes. Unlike the MacBook Pro, the new iPad Pro models are not expected to receive a major design overhaul. Instead, they will focus on internal upgrades, including faster chips and improved performance.

Earlier reports indicated Apple is experimenting with a vapour chamber cooling system for the iPad Pro. This technology could help improve sustained performance and reduce overheating during demanding tasks. The iPad Pro was last updated in October 2025 with the M5 chip. While there have been rumors about a foldable iPad Pro with a larger display, the latest report suggests the upcoming models will be conventional updates to the current line-up.

There is speculation that the new iPad Pro models could use either M6 or M7 chips, but Bloomberg did not confirm which processor will be used. The report also notes that Apple's plans may change due to ongoing memory and silicon supply constraints.

Apple's Broader Product Roadmap

Alongside the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro updates, Apple is reportedly accelerating its chip development. The company aims to introduce its first M7 processor in the first half of 2027, optimizing Apple Silicon for more demanding artificial intelligence workloads. If current plans proceed, the redesigned MacBook Pro and refreshed iPad Pro could launch with other products in 2027, including a second-generation iPhone Air and an entry-level iPhone 18.

Apple has not officially confirmed these devices. However, early 2027 could become one of the busiest periods for new Apple product launches in recent years.
