Samsung's Galaxy Ring 2 is now expected to launch in early 2027, according to South Korean publication ET News. This marks a delay from earlier expectations that it would debut alongside Samsung's foldable lineup in 2024. The Galaxy Ring 2 aims to offer users lightweight, passive health tracking without the need for a smartwatch.
The original Samsung Galaxy Ring launched in 2024 and quickly gained popularity in the smart ring category. The upcoming Galaxy Ring 2 is now set for release more than two years later. Samsung is reportedly focusing on meaningful upgrades rather than an early launch. The new model is expected to feature longer battery life, a slimmer design, and improved health sensors.
One of the most significant changes will be battery life. The current Galaxy Ring offers up to seven days of use, depending on size and usage. Reports suggest the Galaxy Ring 2 could extend this to nine or ten days on a single charge. This improvement is notable for smart rings, which are designed for continuous wear, including during sleep. Longer battery life reduces charging frequency and supports more consistent health monitoring.
Samsung is said to be redesigning the internal structure of the Galaxy Ring 2. The goal is to make the device slimmer and more comfortable, especially for overnight wear. Achieving a thinner profile without sacrificing performance is technically challenging due to the limited internal space of smart rings.
The new model is also expected to offer improved health tracking accuracy. Samsung is reportedly working on enhancing core wellness features such as sleep monitoring and activity tracking. However, non-invasive blood glucose monitoring, a long-term goal for many wearable companies, is not expected to be ready for the Galaxy Ring 2. The technology still faces challenges related to accuracy and regulatory approval.
For now, Samsung appears to be refining existing features rather than introducing experimental capabilities. The focus remains on comfort, battery life, and reliable health tracking. These enhancements align with how most users interact with smart rings, preferring passive wellness monitoring over interactive smartwatch functions.
Samsung's advantage in the smart ring market comes from its integration with the broader Galaxy ecosystem and its strong retail presence. The current Galaxy Ring already provides core features such as sleep tracking, activity monitoring, and wellness insights. Users interested in the next version will need to wait until at least 2027 for these anticipated upgrades.
As the launch is still over a year away, some details may change before the Galaxy Ring 2 becomes available. Samsung continues to focus on refining its wearable offerings to meet user needs.
