Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to make its global debut in January 2026. Before its official launch, specification rumors and potential leaks have already begun shedding light on what to expect from Samsung's upcoming smartphone in the market. A recent rumor suggests some camera upgrades for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. If it's true, Samsung is likely to equip its new flagship smartphone with a larger 200-megapixel camera sensor. Additionally, the successor of Galaxy S25 Ultra is anticipated to come mated with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB of RAM.

Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo shared that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra phone will have a 1/1.1-inch 200 megapixel Sony CMOS sensor and will be fitted as the primary rear sensor. It would be a major upgrade over the 1/1.3-inch sensor found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and previous generation models. The rumored camera sensor would deliver enhanced picture quality compared to the existing 200-megapixel shooter and will also add a major shift in the brand's imaging strategy. The South Korean smartphone brand has used its in-house 200-megapixel sensors for the Galaxy Ultra smartphones.

Another rumor highlighted that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 sensor with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and 12-megapixel 3x telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom. The device could also sport next next-generation ProVisual Engine.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Specifications (Expected)

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to launch in January next year with major upgrades compared to Galaxy S25 Ultra. The smartphone may be introduced alongside the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26. However, Samsung is rumored to discontinue the Plus variant from next year.

In terms of processing power, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset, which is likely to be announced by September this year. It would also sport 16GB of RAM and a 6.9-inch display panel as found in its predecessor, but with thinner bezels. The device can also be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
