Samsung US has announced that select Galaxy phones and tablets will come with the Amazon Music app pre-installed. This move will affect millions of Samsung mobile and tablet devices globally, according to the company's press release. The pre-installed app offers users a free three-month subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited, which usually costs $13 per month and typically includes only a one-month trial.
The Amazon Music Unlimited subscription provides access to over 100 million songs. Many of these tracks are available in Ultra HD and Spatial Audio. The service also includes millions of podcasts and offers artist livestreams and merchandise. In addition to music, the subscription grants users one free audiobook from Audible each month. Audible alone costs $9 per month after a one-month trial.
Normally, users can download Amazon Music from the Google Play Store. However, the new partnership means the app is now also available on the Galaxy Store. Users who download the app through the Galaxy Store will receive the free three-month trial, even if they do not purchase a new Galaxy device. Samsung notes that this is the first time Amazon Music has been available on the Galaxy Store.
While only Samsung US has posted about the partnership, the press release mentions a global rollout. It states that the app will be pre-installed on millions of select Samsung mobile and tablet devices worldwide. It remains unclear if the pre-installation will be limited to the US or extend to other regions.
Izzet Asayas, Head of CTV & Mobile Business Development at Samsung, said, "We are constantly finding new ways to deliver special benefits and value for our Galaxy users. Through our collaboration with Amazon Music, Samsung continues to elevate premium experiences across the Galaxy experience."
Karolina Joynathsing, Director of Business Development at Amazon Music, added, "By pre-installing Amazon Music on select Galaxy devices and making it available in the Galaxy Store, we’re putting world-class audio entertainment in customers’ hands from the very first moment — with a free Amazon Music Unlimited trial to make that first experience truly exceptional."
Samsung users will find the Amazon Music app pre-installed on select devices. Those who do not have the app can download it from the Galaxy Store to access the free trial. The offer includes all features of Amazon Music Unlimited and Audible for three months. Users are advised to use the Galaxy Store, not the Google Play Store, to receive the trial.
The announcement highlights Samsung's ongoing efforts to provide added value for Galaxy device owners. However, some users may prefer to choose which apps are installed on their devices.
