Spotify marks its 20th anniversary by launching a new feature that lets users revisit their listening history. The feature, called Your Party of the Year(s), is available globally on the mobile app and the anniversary webpage. Users can now see the first song they streamed, the day they joined Spotify, and their most-played artists over the years.
To use the new feature, open the Spotify mobile app. On the homescreen, look for The Party of the Year(s) banner and tap it. The app will guide you through slides showing your Spotify start date, your first streamed song, the total number of songs you have listened to, and your all-time most-played artist.
Spotify designed this experience mainly for mobile devices, but users can also access it through the anniversary webpage on a mobile browser. Each section provides a custom share card that users can save or share directly to social media.
Spotify has also released lists highlighting the most-streamed artists, albums, songs, and podcasts in its history. According to Spotify, Taylor Swift is currently the most-streamed artist on the platform. The song 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd holds the record as the most-streamed song of all time on Spotify.
Spotify launched in 2006 and has grown into one of the world’s largest music streaming platforms. The company says the anniversary feature acts as a personalised time capsule, similar to its annual Spotify Wrapped event. This new feature provides users with data that was previously unavailable, offering a deeper look into their listening habits.
Features like Your Party of the Year(s) highlight how online platforms collect and use user data. By surfacing older listening habits and first streams, Spotify aims to make this information more meaningful for listeners. The company continues to tap into the emotional side of music discovery by allowing users to reflect on their musical journey.
Spotify’s new feature is part of its ongoing efforts to engage users and celebrate its two decades in the music streaming industry. The platform’s ability to personalise user experiences remains a key part of its appeal.
