Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of its TV S Mini LED series in India on April 15. The new lineup will include 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch models. These TVs use QD Mini LED technology, which combines Mini LED backlighting with quantum dot color enhancement. This technology promises higher brightness and improved contrast compared to standard QLED panels.
The QD Mini LED technology in the Xiaomi TV S Mini LED series uses thousands of smaller LEDs for backlighting. This allows for several dimming zones, resulting in deeper blacks and sharper details. The quantum dot layer enhances color volume and brightness, improving overall picture quality. Xiaomi also includes its 'Quantum MagiQ' color tuning for further image refinement.
The series is already available in other markets. In India, the TVs will be sold through Amazon, Xiaomi's official website, and offline retail stores. While Xiaomi has not yet announced pricing for the new series, its current top model is priced at Rs 69,999. Given the advanced technology, the new models are expected to be priced at a premium.
Based on the global variant, the 55-inch model is expected to feature 4K resolution, Mini LED backlighting, and Google TV integration. The TV S Mini LED series aims to offer a connected home experience, working well with other Xiaomi devices. The software experience and ecosystem integration could be key differentiators for these TVs.
For gamers, TVs with 120Hz panels may still provide better value, as the refresh rate details for the Xiaomi TV S Mini LED series are not yet confirmed. More information on specifications and pricing will be available after the official launch.
Xiaomi's approach with the TV S Mini LED series is to bridge the gap between QLED and OLED technologies while keeping prices accessible. The company aims to improve picture quality through advanced backlighting and color technologies.
The launch of the Xiaomi TV S Mini LED series follows the introduction of other Mini LED TVs in India, including a 65-inch Mini LED 4K TV from Kodak. The market for premium TVs in India is growing, with consumers seeking better picture quality and smart features.
Xiaomi's new series will compete with other brands offering Mini LED and QLED TVs. The focus on ecosystem integration and software experience may help Xiaomi differentiate its products in this segment.
