Samsung's first smart glasses running Android XR with One UI XR have surfaced in new leaks. The device, called Galaxy Glasses, will be managed through the Samsung Galaxy Glasses Manager app. Screenshots from this app reveal the glasses' design and features, offering the first clear look at the upcoming wearable.
The Galaxy Glasses Manager app allows users to manage settings, install software updates, and enable or disable features on the smart glasses. Users can automatically import photos and videos from the glasses to their smartphones. The app also supports device control through other Samsung accessories.
The glasses can be controlled using a compatible Samsung ring, which supports gesture controls. Additionally, Samsung plans to introduce a Galaxy Glasses Controller app for the Galaxy Watch, enabling users to manage the glasses directly from their wrist.
Leaked images from the app show the Galaxy Glasses both alone and inside their case. The model shown is the Warby Parker edition. The integration with the Galaxy ecosystem suggests that Samsung aims for seamless connectivity between its devices.
Users will be able to control the glasses with a Samsung ring if they own one. The ring's gesture support will allow for hands-free operation. The Galaxy Watch will also play a role in controlling the glasses through a dedicated app.
Samsung has not announced an official release date for the Galaxy Glasses. However, industry sources suggest the launch could occur this year. The company may provide more information or a teaser at its next Unpacked event.
The Galaxy Glasses represent Samsung's entry into the smart glasses market, aiming to compete with other tech giants in the wearable space. The device's integration with Android XR and One UI XR highlights Samsung's commitment to expanding its ecosystem.
