Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi Turbo 5 in India on June 16. The new smartphone aims to deliver high performance within the value-oriented Redmi lineup. The Turbo 5 is positioned below Xiaomi’s flagship devices, making it the most powerful Redmi phone in its segment. This move mirrors strategies seen from other Xiaomi sub-brands, offering Indian consumers more choices in the mid-range market.
The Redmi Turbo 5 features a modern design with two circular camera cutouts on the back and an aluminium frame. The rear panel uses reinforced glass, and the Redmi logo is placed on the bottom left. Notably, the device includes two RGB light rings around each rear camera, adding a distinctive visual element.
The front of the Turbo 5 houses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display. This screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can display up to 68 billion colors, according to Xiaomi. The display also offers Dolby Vision support and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The bezels are minimal, contributing to a sleek appearance.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. It is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which are designed to enhance speed and responsiveness. Xiaomi claims this is the fastest Redmi device to date, though full performance details will be available after further testing.
The device includes a 7,540mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging and 27W reverse charging. Despite the large battery capacity, the Turbo 5 maintains a slim profile at 8.18mm thick.
The Redmi Turbo 5 features a dual rear camera setup. The primary camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with optical image stabilization. This is paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The main camera can record video at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. On the front, the device includes a 20-megapixel selfie camera.
The Redmi Turbo 5 will be officially launched in India on June 16. Xiaomi has focused on delivering a performance-oriented device with advanced display, battery, and camera features. More detailed evaluations will be available following the full review.
