Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 15 series for global markets, introducing five models under the lineup. While the international range includes the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 15 Pro, Redmi Note 15 5G , and Redmi Note 15, Indian consumers are expected to receive only the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G.

According to a Smartprix report citing tipster Yogesh Brar, both smartphones are likely to launch in India on January 27, although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the date yet. This follows the India launch of the base Redmi Note 15 earlier this month.

Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G and Pro: Performance and Software

Globally, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, replacing the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 used in the previous Redmi Note 14 Pro+. The upgrade focuses more on efficiency and long-term platform support rather than major performance gains.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro also moves away from its predecessor’s MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chip, switching to a newer MediaTek processor globally. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether Indian variants will match global RAM and storage configurations.

Both phones ship with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. Xiaomi has confirmed an international software support policy of four Android OS updates and six years of security patches, though India-specific confirmation is still awaited.

Battery and Charging Upgrades Over Redmi Note 14 Series

Battery capacity is one of the biggest upgrades in the Redmi Note 15 Pro lineup.

  • Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G: 6,500mAh silicon–carbon battery with 100W fast charging

  • Redmi Note 15 Pro: 6,580mAh battery, prioritising longer endurance over charging speed

For comparison, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ in India offered a 6,200mAh battery with 90W charging, while the Note 14 Pro had a 5,500mAh unit.

Camera Strategy Changes in Redmi Note 15 Pro Series

Xiaomi has shifted its camera approach with the new series. While the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ featured a 50MP main camera with a dedicated 50MP telephoto lens, and the Note 14 Pro relied on a 200MP sensor without optical zoom, the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Pro+ both standardise on a 200MP primary camera globally.

Instead of a telephoto lens, Xiaomi is now relying on in-sensor zoom and software processing, a move aimed at simplifying hardware while maintaining versatility. Real-world performance will determine how effective this trade-off is.

Display, Durability, and Design Improvements

The display size has increased slightly this year. Both Pro models now feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, up from the 6.67-inch panel used in the Redmi Note 14 Pro series. Brightness levels and refresh rates remain similar, but the larger screen results in a bigger overall footprint.

Durability has also been enhanced. While the previous generation already offered IP68 resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the Redmi Note 15 Pro lineup steps up to IP69-rated protection, offering added reassurance against dust and water exposure.

Global Pricing and Expected India Price Range

Global pricing for the Redmi Note 15 series is positioned higher than last year:

  • Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G: USD 449 (~₹41,000)
  • Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G: USD 399 (~₹36,000)
  • Redmi Note 15 Pro / Note 15 5G: USD 299 (~₹27,000)
  • Redmi Note 15: USD 199 (~₹18,000)

In India, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G launched at around ₹24,999, while the Note 14 Pro+ started near ₹29,999. With rising component costs, the Redmi Note 15 Pro series is expected to launch at slightly higher prices, though still below global conversions.

Should You Wait for the Redmi Note 15 Pro Series?

For users currently on the Redmi Note 14 Pro or Pro+, the biggest reasons to upgrade are larger batteries, longer software support, and improved durability. Those focused on value may find the older models more attractive as prices drop post-launch.

However, buyers planning to keep their phone for several years may find the newer chipsets, extended update policy, and bigger batteries of the Redmi Note 15 Pro series worth the extra cost—provided India pricing stays competitive.
