Xiaomi has launched the 17T and 17T Pro smartphones in Europe this week. Both models are priced €100 higher than their 15T predecessors but introduce several key upgrades. The 17T now features a 50MP 5x periscope camera, matching the Pro version. This camera offers 30cm macro shots and 10x lossless zoom, a significant improvement over the previous 2x lens.

Key Highlights

  • Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro launch in Europe with €100 price increase over 15T series.
  • Both phones feature upgraded 50MP 5x periscope cameras and larger batteries.
  • Bundle deals offer Redmi Pad 2 or Xiaomi Pad 8 tablets at discounted prices.

Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro Features

The Xiaomi 17T includes a 50MP 1/1.55” main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP front camera. The device is smaller than the 15T, with a 6.59-inch 12-bit 120Hz OLED display. Despite the reduced size, the battery capacity has increased to 6,500mAh, up by 1,000mAh from the previous model. Charging options include 67W with a HyperCharge adapter and 50W with a USB PPS adapter. The phone also supports reverse charging at up to 22.5W.

The 17T Pro maintains a 6.83-inch 12-bit OLED display with a faster 144Hz refresh rate. Its battery is larger at 7,000mAh, an increase of 1,500mAh over the 15T Pro. Charging supports 100W wired (HyperCharge and PPS) and 50W wireless. The 17T Pro uses the same 50MP 5x periscope camera as the 17T but features a larger 1/1.31” main sensor. The Pro model runs on the flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset, while the standard 17T uses the Dimensity 8500.

Pricing, Bundles, and Alternatives

Both the 17T and 17T Pro are €100 more expensive than last year’s 15T series. Since their launch only a few days ago, no discounts are available yet. However, Xiaomi offers bundle deals with tablets. Buyers can choose the Redmi Pad 2 or the Xiaomi Pad 8 as part of the bundle.

The Redmi Pad 2 features a 9.7-inch 120Hz IPS LCD and a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The battery is 7,600mAh with 18W charging. Normally priced at €200, the tablet is available for €100 when bundled with a 17T series phone.

The Xiaomi Pad 8 offers an 11.2-inch 144Hz IPS LCD and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. It comes with more RAM and storage but lacks a microSD slot. The device runs on a 9,200mAh battery with 45W charging and 22.5W reverse charging. The regular price is €450, but the bundle reduces it to €300.

The Xiaomi 17 Max and 17 Pro Max are not available in Europe. The only higher-end models in the region are the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. As an alternative, the Poco F8 Ultra is available. It is less expensive than the 17T and features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 1/1.31” Light Fusion 950 sensor, a 50MP 5x periscope camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The Poco F8 Ultra has a 6.9-inch 12-bit 120Hz OLED display and a 6,500mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
